Our First Week in France

Friday 08/25 was a bit of a disaster. The French really don't do car rentals particularly well, particularly at railway stations. We couldn't even find the Hertz car rental return place. When we finally did (returning another car) a week later, you returned the car at one place, then walked 500 meters to return the keys ... Saturday: The apartment was so nicely set up we hardly had to buy anything. We just headed to Auchan (French Target) to buy groceries, items and kill time waiting for Hannah's entrance test. Sunday: All things logistics done, we headed of to Vieux Lyon (old town Lyon). Visited some nice old churches (St Augustine?) and roamed the old town and discovered huge farmers market (one of many in Lyon). Monday/Tuesday: More shopping and preparing for Hannah's test. Hannah and Constance visited their first Michelin rated restaurant aptly named Le Restaurant (https://www.viamichelin.com/web/Restaurant/Saint_Priest-69800-Le_Restaurant-177321-41102) Wedn

Arrival Day - Lyon, Rhone, France

Apparently the person who had the car before us, decided to keep it for a few more days ... so no car for us! Luckily Hertz came through in the end for us. Arrived at Lyon @ 3:40pm and settled into the apartment. One big item crossed off: apartment. The apartment was quite large with 3 bed rooms and nice and modern being only 2 years old. Was going to hit the grocery store in our car, but the car was locked up at 4pm. Were told to walk to the grocery store. Six grocery stores and 10 Boulanger's within 1km walking distance of our home.
